MSc/PhD Opportunity In Beef Grazing/nutrition Research Scholarship Details

The Opportunity:
An MSc or PhD graduate student is sought to join the beef grazing/nutrition group at the Western Beef Development Centre

The Project:
This project will investigate managing stockpiled perennial forages with beef cows and the impact on cow performance, forage yield and composition, forage quality, soil nutrients and system costs. Both field and laboratory studies will be conducted.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be highly motivated to pursue a research career. Applicants should have a strong background in beef cattle, ruminant nutrition or the animal sciences. Interested individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science should to have a minimum average of 70% before considering submission of an application.

Starting Date: The student is to commence in the Fall term (September 2010), or once a suitable candidate has been identified

Stipend:
A standard University graduate stipend for the successful candidate is available: MSc $16,000/year or PhD $18,000/year.
