LEGUME RECOVERY IN PASTURE FOLLOWING HERBICIDES Scholarship Details

The inclusion of legumes is an important objective in pasture management due to the contributions of legumes to improving forage yield and quality. Following herbicide application, legume re-establishment depends in part on the degradation of bioactives, coupled with opportunities for establishment, either from the soil seed bank or through interseeding.
We are seeking a graduate research assistant (M.Sc. or Ph.D.; Ph.D. preferred) to conduct this investigation over a 3 year period. The successful applicant should have a background in agronomy, weed science, range and pasture management, or related field, and be qualified for graduate studies. Applicants should have strong communication and organizational skills, be conscientious, motivated, and able to work well with others, including industry. In addition, the successful candidate must be prepared to spend considerable time in the field during peak data collection periods. A valid class 5 driver’s license is also required. Stipends are $19,000 and $21,000 Cdn. per annum for the MSc and PhD level, respectively.
